Biography:
Péter Tamás Kovács has been working at Holografika since 2006, and became CTO of the company in 2009. Holografika has developed proprietary technologies in 3D visualisation, including the real 3D light-field display product line HoloVizio and related technologies. The company develops and sells these 3D display systems and related software components. Peter has been involved in the research and development of novel 3D display prototypes and products as well as related technologies, many of them were world’s first (world’s first glasses-free 3D cinema, real-time light field capture and rendering system, full-angle 180 degree light-field display), and thus has experience with managing research projects for internal purposes as well as contracted research projects involving numerous connected technical areas of optics, mechanics, electrical and software.
Peter received MSc degree in Computer Science from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He has served as Program Committee member for numerous international IEEE conferences (most notably 3DTV-Con and IC3D), Local Organizing Chair of 3DTV-Con 2014, and is a contributing member of the International 3D Society and the International Committee for Display Metrology (ICDM), where he contributed to the first IDMS standard. He is the Head of Delegation to MPEG for Hungary. He is also serving as the chair of the Working Group 5 (“3D End-User Devices”) of 3D-ConTourNet COST Action. He is the author or co-author of 3 book chapters, 25+ conference papers, and has been a speaker / exhibitor at 20+ scientific and industrial events. He has participated numerous EU FP6 / FP7 / Eureka projects and national research projects, both as a researcher and evaluator / reviewer.
Contribution to Prolight-IAPP:
Developing algorithms for compression of light fields (WP2)
